CRIME ROUND UP

A building contractor and subcontractor who undertook the construction of three villas in the area of Chloraka reported to the police that unknown persons stole scaffolding worth almost €10,000.

According to the complaint made to the police from the construction site, not only the scaffolding but also other components and materials for setting up the scaffolding were stolen.

Several similar cases have been reported recently and arrests have been made for these thefts.

A Greek Cypriot resident of the Mouttalou district attacked a police officer who was called to the neighbourhood to impose order.

The 43-year-old was causing concern after being under the influence of alcohol. When he was called by the police to calm down and go to his home, he became angry and attacked the police who arrested him.

A knife of a prohibited type was also found in his possession.

A foreign woman was found by a supermarket security guard to be in possession of items that she did not pay at the cash register.  

The value of the products did not exceed 100 euros. Sensation is caused by the fact that in addition to the basic necessities she had with her, food such as salami and cheese, she had also stolen perfumes from the supermarket.

A case of rape after burglary is being investigated by the Paphos Police.

According to police, it was reported by two women that while they were at their residence in the early hours of Friday, an unknown person entered through a window and allegedly proceeded to rape one of them. He then exited the apartment and fled.

Following the complaint, police carried out further examinations to identify the alleged perpetrator, while the woman who reported her rape was examined by a forensic pathologist.

The case is being investigated by the ICF of Pafos.
