The reaction of everyone in Pafos to the sudden change in the plans of the municipal authority and the relevant decision of the Pafos Municipal Council is now universal, according to which instead of removing the iron boxes that had been placed a year ago in the land area of the port of Kato Pafos and which had, from the beginning, become a target for their aesthetics and non-aesthetic integration into the particular environment of the area, the structures remain in place after the removal of their side panels.
The finding two weeks ago that the authorities had begun to dismantle the iron boxes that were placed to be used as a business dining area, without this intention having been implemented since then, initially scattered satisfaction among businessmen in the area, citizens who regularly visit the area, as well as institutions and organizations in the city. However, the local authorities were recently surprised to learn of the decision of the City Council to keep the constructions with the simple removal of the side walls.
The service of businesses through tables and chairs had been announced to be done with the construction and installation of metal constructions-boxes that have already been placed in the area and which caused from the beginning strong reactions for their aesthetics, considering them as completely foreign elements in the picturesqueness of the space.
The plans for the harbour indicate that in addition to the aforementioned aspect, they will also promote the unified image of the facades of the buildings, defining uniform protection structures during the winter months, uniform signs and urban equipment.
