Police have arrested two women aged 19 and 20 in connection with an ongoing case of car theft in the Paphos district. A 26-year-old man is wanted in the same case.

The car was stolen yesterday morning while parked on the street outside its owners' residence in Paphos. Its theft was reported to the ICF of Pafos.

Shortly after 2.30 pm on Tuesday, the owner of the vehicle contacted the Police and reported that he found his stolen car, parked in an area of Geroskipou, but an unknown man, when he noticed him approaching his vehicle, entered it and drove it to flee. At the same time, his wife, who had previously been a passenger inside the stolen car, remained at the scene.

Members of the Police who rushed to the area for examinations, located the suspect, aged 20, in whose possession, after checking, small quantities of cannabis and white crystalline substance, believed to be methamphetamine, were found. The 20-year-old was arrested for the offence of illegal possession of drugs and subsequently arrested on a court warrant in connection with the theft case.

From the investigations that followed, the stolen car was found by members of the Pafos ICF, abandoned in a field in the area of Mesogi, in Paphos, while the identity of the suspect man, aged 26, who was seen driving it, was also ascertained. A judicial arrest warrant was issued against him, with police conducting investigations to locate and arrest him.

Evidence in connection with the theft case also emerged against a second woman, aged 19. A judicial arrest warrant was also issued against her, under which she was arrested at around 10.00 last night.

Police arrested three people aged 37, 65 and 68 yesterday as part of an investigation into conspiracy to commit a felony and illegal possession of drugs for the purpose of supply.

Specifically, members of the Limassol YKAN, after evaluating information, went yesterday to search with a court warrant, at a house where a 65-year-old and a 68-year-old man live in Limassol.

At that moment, a 37-year-old man was inside the house, who fled when he realized the presence of the police. During tests carried out in the area where he escaped, a nylon package containing a quantity of cocaine weighing approximately 647 grams was found in a yard of a house.

Subsequently, in the subsequent search inside the first house, two packages containing a quantity of cocaine weighing approximately 22 grams were located and seized.

Subsequently, the 65-year-old and the 68-year-old, along with the 37-year-old, who presented himself at the Limassol YKAN, after a few hours, along with his lawyer, were arrested and detained to facilitate the interrogations.

The Famagusta District Court yesterday handed down prison sentences to two men aged 49 and 37, who were found guilty following a trial in a case involving offences committed during the arrival of a number of irregular migrants by sea boat in the Famagusta area last May.

Specifically, the District Court imposed on the 49-year-old a prison sentence of 18 months, for committing offences related to the UN Convention and Transnational Crime and the legislation on high-speed craft, for the offence of transporting a person by water in an unsafe or overloaded vessel, and for the offence of illegal entry into the Republic by a person declared as a prohibited immigrant.

Similarly, the 37-year-old, also for the offence of illegal entry into the Republic by a person who has been declared a prohibited immigrant, was sentenced by the Court to 12 months in prison.

The case concerned the arrival by sea boat in the area of free Famagusta, at noon on May 25, of 14 irregular migrants, including the 49-year-old and 37-year-old. According to testimonies obtained later, the driver of the boat was the 49-year-old, who was arrested by members of the Police, pursuant to a court warrant, while the 37-year-old was also arrested as a prohibited immigrant.

The remaining 12 passengers of the boat, seven men, one woman, and four children, upon completion of the relevant procedures, were transferred to the accommodation center "Pournara".

A mobile camera operator in Limassol was found positive in a preliminary narcotest on Tuesday morning. According to the Police, around 9:20 in the morning a report was received from a citizen that the car with a mobile traffic camera was parked at a bus stop on Nikos Pattichi Street in Limassol.

Members of team G of the Limassol Traffic Police went to the point where they found that the vehicle was legally parked.

According to police, the driver was reportedly asleep. The members of the Limassol Traffic Police suspected that the operator may have been under the influence of substances. This was followed by a preliminary narcotest test, in which the operator tested positive.

Samples were then taken for final examination.

Police on Tuesday arrested a 23-year-old for an investigated case of burglary, theft and malicious damage.

According to the police, on June 19 a petrol station in Nicosia was broken into and as sum of €310 was stolen.

On June 25 a complaint was made about another break-in of a shop, where nothing was stolen but malicious damage estimated at €350 euros was caused to the door of the shop.

During investigation testimony emerged against a 23-year-old male suspect who was arrested on a warrant and taken into custody.
