The Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance informs that, according to the provisions of the Regulation of the Operation of Shops and the Terms of Employment of their Employees, during the Easter festive period, Easter hours precede ten (10) days from Easter Day (April 16, 2023), i.e. this year it will apply from April 6, 2023 until April 15, 2023.
Based on the provisions of the aforementioned Laws, general stores on Good Friday and Holy Saturday can remain open until 6:00 p.m. It is emphasized that on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday general stores should remain closed, since the above days are considered holidays for general stores (article 16 of the Laws).
In addition, it is emphasized that, based on Article 16 of the aforementioned legislation, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday are considered public holidays for employees of special stores. Therefore, in case employees of these stores are called to work on the above dates, they will have to be compensated at a ratio of 1:2 for each hour worked.
Shops, which are located in areas excluded from the scope of Part IV of the aforementioned legislation (not adjacent to Municipalities), are not obliged to follow the provisions of the relevant legislation regarding the opening hours of shops. Therefore, employees who will be required to work during the statutory holidays for store employees (Easter Sunday and Easter Monday) will have to be compensated at a ratio of 1:2 for each hour worked.
