DRIVER UNDER INFLUENCE OF DRUGS CAUGHT DRIVING STOLEN VEHICLE

The arrest of a 39-year-old foreign resident of Deryneia was made today shortly before 0200 in the morning by members of the Famagusta Traffic Police in Ayia Napa who was spotted driving a stolen vehicle, under the influence of narcotic substances, without a driver's license and without insurance.

Specifically, at the time in question, members of Famagusta Trochaia, while carrying out a traffic control in Ayia Napa, stopped for inspection a motor vehicle which was found to have been declared stolen on 23/2/23 by its owner in Nicosia.

A subsequent search found a metal liberium, a black lantern, a nylon zip lock bag containing a white crystalline substance - crystalline methamphetamine weighing 0.5 g. approximately and amount of dry plant matter - hemp, weight: 0.3 gr. approximately.

The findings were received as evidence while the 39-year-old foreigner was arrested for flagrant offences. The 39-year-old then tested positive for amphetamine and cannabis. In addition, it was found that he was driving without a driver's licence and without insurance.

The case is being investigated by the Famagusta YKAN, the Famagusta and Nicosia ICF and the Ayia Napa Police Station of similar competence.
