PEYIA - CONTRACT SIGNED FOR WORK FOR PHASE A OF COASTAL PEDESTRIAN PATH

The contract for the formation of a coastal pedestrian street in the Municipality of Pegeia was signed today.

Specifically, the Department of Urban Planning and Housing of the Ministry of Interior announced that today a construction contract was signed for the formation of phase A of the coastal pedestrian street in the Municipality of Pegeia.

The contract was signed by the Mayor of Pegeia, Mr. Marinos Lambrou on behalf of the Contracting Authority and by the Director of the contracting company A.N.IOANNOULIMITED, Mr. Anthimos Ioannou on behalf of the Contractor Contractor. The amount of the contract amounts to €2,560,407.18 plus VAT and the construction works are expected to be completed within a period of 15 months.

The project is co-financed by 2/3 by the Department of Town Planning and Housing, Ministry of Interior and 1/3 by the fund of the Municipality of Pegeia.

The construction works of the contract include the construction of a pedestrian/ bicycle path, square and sitting areas, playgrounds, sports areas and the landscape design of green areas, which will compose a single linear seaside multifunctional park. Urban equipment and lighting are installed in all areas of the Project. In addition, within the framework of the Project and between the banks of the river Xeros, a footbridge connecting the Project with the future Pafos Marina will be erected.

The main objective of the project is the creation of a promenade, sports and recreation area along the already developed areas of the coastal front of the Municipality and access to the beach for residents and visitors of the area.

The configuration of the coastal pedestrian street is part of the Strategic Plan 2022-2024 of the Ministry of Interior and specifically of Activity 2.1 "Projects and regulatory plans in relation to urban and rural development", of Objective 2 "Contribution to the development and regeneration of urban areas and the countryside as well as to the promotion and protection of the natural and cultural heritage", of the Department of Urban Planning and Housing.
