RELAXATIONS WEF 8 MARCH

 Filenews 3 March 2022

The steady and obvious improvement of epidemiological indicators, the decrease in hospitalizations, the drop in the number of cases and the positivity rate, show that the measures to contain the pandemic that we implemented have paid off, said the Minister of Health, Michalis Hadjipantelas, with him pointing out that this allows the Government to proceed to a relaxation of the measures.

Specifically, the Council of Ministers decided:

a) from March 8, virus-positive individuals may be released on day 7, provided that they obtain a negative test (Rapid or PCR). If the result is positive, the process may be repeated until negative, or until the 10th day of self-isolation. The decision shall have retroactive effect.

b) from March 8, 2022, such as close contacts of a confirmed positive case that have not been isolated from the virus-positive person (e.g. parents who are watching a minor child, etc.) instead of remaining in confinement for 10+7 days, they may undergo a test (Rapid or PCR) after the release of the case on the 7th day and if they ensure a negative result they will be released. The decision shall have retroactive effect.

c) as of 8 March 2022, the approval of the plan for the adaptation of the measures against COVID-19. The plan will include premises and professional activities, which will be classified by risk and citizens will know what will be the appropriate conditions to enter these premises either for people with a history of vaccination or for people without a history of vaccination. The plan will include 4 categories in which the spaces will be classified:

(a) high risk

(b) medium risk

(c) low risk

(d) short-stay areas in which safepass demonstration will not be required.

The provisions of the readjustment plan will be announced within the day.

(d) from 8 March 2022, the capacity increase in retail businesses, casinos, gyms.

e) as of March 8, 2022, the increase of the maximum number of people at events including weddings and baptisms to 500 people, provided that the area of the space allows the ratio of 1.5 sq.m per person.

f) the lifting of the ban on the holding of student parades. A specific protocol with guidelines will be issued.
