The Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 22:20, a fire broke out in an area of the community of Mandria, which thanks to the immediate response of the fire forces was brought under control at 22:50, before being extended.
The firefighting operation involved two forest department personnel with a fire truck, four Fire Department personnel with two fire trucks and two community members with a fire truck.
The fire is estimated to have been caused by the use of fireworks.
The Department of Forestry calls on the public to be particularly careful during their excursions, avoiding fully actions and activities that may cause a fire.
Also, in case anyone notices smoke or fire they are asked to call 1407 (Forest Department) or 112 (Fire Department).
