HEALTH MINISTER - VACCINATION PLAN WILL CONTINUE AS NORMAL

 Filenews 7 April 2021

As planned, the implementation of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 continues with all available licensed vaccines, following the rewording today by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) of the position that vaccination of citizens must continue smoothly and rapidly.

As stated in a communication from the Ministry of Health, after a thorough examination of the data and the possible association of the AstraZeneca vaccine with cases of thrombosis, the Agency responsible for the scientific position expressed the scientific position that the vaccine remains effective and safe and that the benefits of its administration outweigh the risks of side effects .

According to the European Medicines Agency, States may continue to administer this vaccine without restrictions. The EMA concludes that the likelihood of cases of thrombosis after vaccination is extremely rare, but will be included in the side effects in the User's Guide Sheet for information purposes.

It is recalled that until tomorrow, 8 April, at 7 p.m., priority for arranging appointments is given to people aged 61 and over. Citizens in this age group are encouraged to schedule their appointment as soon as possible, since any delay poses an increased risk of serious illness in the event of contamination.
