PAPHOS DAMS NEARING CAPACITY

The wave of heavy rainfall of the previous period and the forecasts for a corresponding picture in the coming days, are expected by the officials of the Department of Water Development to bring about the first notable change for this year upwards of the statistical tables of the fullness in the dams.

To date, the dams of Paphos province, range in fill around 80% in Paphos and 70% in the area of Chrysochous. This situation is already considered satisfactory according to the officials, which provides comfort for handling for 2021, both at water and irrigation level. Heavy rainfall, however, is estimated to improve this data to a certain extent.

In the meantime, however, all four major dams in Paphos province still retain a occupancy of more than 70%, which practically means that we will not have to deal with the usual nightmare of water scarcity every summer. In particular, in Asprokremmos the completeness was recorded in the last measurement of the TY at 85%, in Cannaviou at 71.1% and in Mavrokolymos at 51.1%. In the dam of Euretou there is a stock of 76%, in Argaka 28.5%, in Pomo 35.2% and in Agia Marina Chrysochous 16.8%.
