While acknowledging that the second phase of the General Health System cannot be fully implemented because of the coronavirus outbreak, the State Health Services Organisation (Okypi) is nevertheless proposing in-hospital health care services begin from June 1, 2020.
In a statement, Okypi said that during its meeting on Thursday in the presence of the Health Minister, it examined the implementation of the second phase of GHS, bearing in mind the financial repercussions and the organisation’s level of readiness due to the pandemic.
Acknowledging that the circumstances do not allow for the full implementation of the second phase but also taking into consideration the needs and concerns of society, it proposes the start of in-hospital health care services from June 1
The organisation said it will provide more information in the next few days which will determine the schedule for the integration of the remaining services related to the second phase.
The GHS board is closely monitoring the health sector and assured of its dedication in providing effective services and equal access to health care to all beneficiaries.
