In line with the gradual lifting of the lockdown as from today, the Health Ministry and the state health services organisation (Okypi) has updated GHS beneficiaries about the new rules:
- GHS beneficiaries can go to the offices of their personal and special doctors for cold (not urgent) cases only by appointment
- Service can be offered by telephone for special cases or to issue repeat prescriptions or referrals and only if the doctor deems it not essential to see the patient
- Surgeries and admissions resume from today in line with the guidelines issued by the Health Ministry for private and state hospitals
Should anyone exhibit symptoms which resemble those of coronavirus, they should contact their personal doctor by phone for instructions. In case of suspect symptoms, specialist doctors refer the patient to their personal doctor for further investigation.
GHS beneficiaries are urged to comply with the advice of their doctors and not go to the doctors’ offices without first arranging an appointment and also to take the necessary personal hygiene measures.
If doctors do not respond, GHS beneficiaries are encouraged to contact the 17000 GHS helpline (free call) or send an email to pdavailability@hio.org.cy mentioning the name of their doctor as well as their own details so that GHS can investigate accordingly.
