189 traffic violations occurred in 150 controls
A one-day Cyprus-wide lorry and bus control campaign was carried out yesterday, with the primary
aim of preventing / preventing many children and other serious road crashes with trucks and buses,
as well as effectively tackling the traffic offenses that may have been caused by drivers.
The campaign was carried out by the Traffic Police Headquarters in cooperation with the
Department of Road Transport and the Department of Labor Inspection.
A total of 150 truck and bus checks were carried out on both the main and secondary roads and the
urban road network, which resulted in the following results.
63 drivers complained of speeding violations
36 drivers were reported for driving without a registration certificate or a certificate of fitness
20 drivers were reported for not using seat belts
7 drivers complained of no use of tachographs
7 drivers complained of worn tires
56 drivers were charged with various other traffic offenses.
