A convoy of buses is being prepared by the friends and sympathizers of the newly elected Metropolitan of Paphos, Mr. Gregory, in order to attend his enthronement in Paphos.
For this purpose, the launch of four buses from Nicosia was planned. Specifically, the buses will depart from Dali and Mosfiloti. What is certain is that the new Metropolitan will not be alone, which is considered supportive for him, given that the change of baton on the metropolitan throne of Paphos is not being implemented under the smoothest conditions.
However, he already had unofficial contact with Paphos and the Paphians on Monday, June 1, when he accompanied the locum tenens of the throne and Archbishop George there.
Besides, last Sunday he also went to Paphos on his first unofficial-official visit, on the occasion of the visit to Emba of Archbishop George, who officiated and preached at the Holy Church of the Apostle Andrew.
The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, also attended Empa, who delivered a memorial speech at the Annual National Memorial Service of the Heroes of the Community.
As for the events that take place on the occasion of the election of the new Metropolitan of Paphos, these concern:
-The Message of his election which will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, June 10 at 6pm, before vespers, at the Cathedral of the Apostle Barnabas in Nicosia.
-The ordination of Mr. Gregory as Bishop on Thursday, June 11, 2026, the day of remembrance of the Apostle Barnabas at the Cathedral of the Apostle Barnabas in Nicosia during the Divine Liturgy
-His enthronement in the afternoon of the same day (Thursday, June 11) at 6pm at the metropolitan church of Agios Theodoros in Paphos.
As it is known, Mr. Gregory was elected with 11 votes in favour, while the hieromonk Sophrony also secured one vote. During the secret ballot, four abstentions were also recorded.
Mr. Grigorios, immediately after his election, when asked about this by Filenews, had stated that the doors of the Metropolis will be open to everyone, including his predecessor (now on holiday) Metropolitan Tychiko.
The newly elected Metropolitan himself is said to be aware of the weight that falls on his shoulders, especially because of what preceded him, but at the same time he is determined to try to build bridges with the Paphians and it is possible that along the way he will also have contacts with organized groups of the province.
It is expected with interest whether the enthronement ceremony will be attended by citizens of the province of Paphos, in addition to the citizens who will go from Nicosia.
