The custom of Green/Clean Monday for flying kites or Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drones) in the area of approach of aircraft to the runways of Larnaca and Paphos airports may endanger flights and cause concern to the flying staff, the Department of Civil Aviation said in a statement, calling on excursionists to avoid flying kites and drones in the airport areas.
In a similar announcement issued by the Municipality of Larnaca, it is more specifically stated that the flying of kites and the use of drones in the area of approach of aircraft such as the areas of Aliki - Tekke, Akti Mackenzie, Kiti and Perivolia, may cause a serious risk to the safety of flights.
The Municipality also states that it looks forward to the understanding and cooperation of the public, with the aim of avoiding any unwanted incident.
