Yesterday's revealing publication of Pafoslive about the problem of water supply in areas in Pegeia mobilized the competent state services.
Officers of the water development department, although they consider that their department is not responsible, since they provide sufficient quantities of water, rushed to the spot to examine the situation and propose suggestions for solutions.
It is recalled that citizens in Pegeia complained that for a few weeks now premises on Akamantos Avenue, in the area of Racherou and in part of Michalaki Avenue Kyprianou not been provided uninterrupted drinking water and that most days of the week they cannot enjoy this good.
Citizens have repeatedly complained to the local authority and in turn the municipality of Pegeia blames both the water development department and the provincial self-government organization for not providing the municipality with the necessary quantities of water.
As explained by officials of the municipality, especially during the summer season with the operation of tourist units and tourist villas in the area, consumption increases sharply and despite the efforts of the municipality to cover the additional needs from its own sources and drillings, this is not always possible.
However, the water development department rejects this position and refers to a proper distribution of available water, noting that due to the high altitude differences in the area, the distribution may have to be differentiated.
