Six digital variable road safety message signs were put into operation on December 27 in both directions of the Pafos-Polis Chrysochous road (B7), according to the Department of Public Works.
As stated in an announcement of the Department, the project concerns the supply, installation and operation of a system of digital signs for variable road safety messages on the road Pafos – Polis Chrysochous (B7) in the district of Pafos and in the context of which the training of officers in the use of the system is foreseen.
It is added that it is co-financed by National resources and 30% by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union, act number 2016-CY-TA-0340-W.
"The aim of the project is to improve road safety by displaying in colours the speed of the upcoming vehicle combined with happy or frown faces, depending on the speed of each vehicle and the speed limit at each point," the announcement concludes.
