The example of the municipality of Pafos seems to be followed by other local, tourist authorities, not only in the district of Pafos but also throughout Cyprus.
The Pafos Municipal Council, at its meeting in mid-June last year, decided to impose overnight fees on self-catering tourist accommodation located within the Municipal Boundaries.
In an announcement, the municipality invited the owners and managers of self-catering tourist accommodation to immediately contact the Tax Department of the Municipality.
Those who did not contact are identified by the municipality's services, something that now seems to be promoted by other local authorities.
