The war of Lambratzia began early this year with the young people collecting all kinds of timber, vehicle tyres, sofas and various other objects in order to get ready for the Easter 'custom'. At the same time, the youngsters seem not to be afraid to send threatening messages in all directions in order not to prevent their actions.
Yesterday's scheduled meeting of the Municipality of Kato Polemidia with the Police and the church committees on the subject of lambratzies, seems to have been the reason for young people to write threatening messages with spray paint on the glass showcases of the City Hall of Kato Polemidia. "In the lambratzia commando only we" and "you will be with us or opposite us", were the slogans with which they sent messages to the authorities.
Speaking to "F", the Mayor of Kato Polemidia, Nikos Anastasiou, said that the goal of the Municipality is not to stop the custom but to observe it within a specific framework, controlled with the primary goal of the safety of all. The biggest problem lies, according to the Mayor, in the parish of St. Nicholas where there is an organized situation with young people gathering even during the night guarding the materials.
