CRIME ROUND UP

Two armed robberies at kiosks were carried out in the early hours of today at two kiosks in the area of Chlorakas.  In both cases, people of African descent appear to be involved, and the exact amounts that the robbers under threat of weapons or dangerous objects extracted from the operations have not yet been finalized.

In the first case, a masked man of African origin entered at 3.00am at a 24-hour service kiosk on the central Makarios Avenue of Chlorakas while only one female employee was in it. The robber, as the clerk then testified to the police, had a pistol in his belt which he showed her, entering the store and making it a point for her to move away from the cash register.

The perpetrator took the money from the cashier and departed on foot in an unknown direction.

After an episodic chase, a 34-year-old wanted man was worn by the Police in Limassol last night.

According to the Police, the 34-year-old was wanted for two burglaries of buildings from which property worth more than €3,000 was stolen and which was spotted last night by an off-duty police officer.

After the discovery that the wanted person was moving with a stolen vehicle, as a co-driver, on the Platres-Limassol road, the episodic chase of the stolen vehicle, whose driver developed speed and in his attempt to avoid the police vehicles, lost control, resulting in a drift, colliding with a police vehicle and continuing its course.

The chase continued when at some point the stolen vehicle collided with a dirt embankment where it was immobilized.

The two men, after exiting the vehicle, fled on foot, causing their chase to continue, with the 26-year-old driver of the vehicle managing to escape arrest and the 34-year-old wanted man being arrested by the authorities.

From a subsequent search inside the stolen vehicle, various items such as copper tubes, etc. were located and received, for which the 34-year-old did not give satisfactory explanations.

Then, after examinations, two vehicles were found, hidden, which were recently reported as stolen to the Police. The 34-year-old was arrested on court warrants for two cases of burglaries and thefts as well as four cases of car thefts committed in Limassol.

Interrogated, the 34-year-old gave various allegations while against the second suspect, the 26-year-old, arrest warrants were issued and he is wanted .

Three days before their team's game against AEK in Larnaca, West Ham fans who arrived in Cyprus to watch the match were drug-laden and drunk.

They rented a minibus for their transportation and on the way from Paphos to Larnaca, one of them, 38 years old, was found on the road while the vehicle was moving at a speed of about 100 kilometers.

The Briton was critically wounded. He was transferred initially to Limassol Hospital and later to Nicosia General Hospital where he is being treated by intubation.

A small amount of drugs was found in the possession of the injured person while the driver tested positive.
