In recent times, significant traffic issues have been caused in the area of traffic lights after the Pafian Stadium due to the large concentration of vehicles in a banking institution that operates in the area. Nowadays, serious traffic problems seem to be generalized to places that are characterized as sensitive in terms of traffic management throughout the centre of Paphos.
This is the reason, they report revealing information of "F" that at least two banks have already taken a decision to close their existing branches in the city of Paphos. The frequent protests of institutions, residents and citizens about the continuous problems caused by the operation of these branches in their areas, prompted the bank managements to proceed with the restructuring of their branches in the city of Paphos. In this context, at least three branches from one bank and two from the second have closed their offices and their operations are merged with other branches that are in areas that do not cause traffic issues and that have a much higher turnover than the ones that were abolished.
The situation as it is formed is now also taken into account by the Pafos Police Department and the Municipality of Pafos, since issues of accident risks and social unrest are very often recorded in various parts of the city, where bank branches have been transferred and which in most cases are not actually able to support the over-concentration of vehicles and citizens that this commercial activity entails.
A person in charge of the Municipality told "F" that the problem is real and serious, but the relevant authority cannot do anything. It is up to the banks themselves to understand the difficulties they create for their own customers and to stop choosing on the basis of a single financial examination, he said.
"And fortunately our own information says that this is happening eventually," he pointed out meaningfully.
