According to the health ministry's announcement, four people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 512.
At the same time, 133 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 44 are in serious condition. 81.96% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination. At the same time, 16 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
As far as the tests for the detection of the disease with the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test are concerned, a total of 59,969 have been performed.
238 (positivity rate: 0.40%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 116,326.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The four people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:
- A man, aged 85, who ended up on September 2nd at the Famagusta General Hospital.
- A man, aged 43, who ended up on September 2nd in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 73, who ended up on September 2nd, at the Limassol General Hospital.
- A man, aged 85, who ended up today at Larnaka General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 512, of which:
- 331 men (64%), and
- 181 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.4 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 133 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 44 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 44 patients who are in serious condition, 16 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 22 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail, the situation in the hospitals is the following:
C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 59,969 diagnoses made today, 6,350 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 53,619 by the antigen rapid test method, 238 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 8 cases from 3,135 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 58 cases from 2,979 samples taken through private initiative.
- 11 cases from 231 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 121 cases from 40,833 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 40 cases from 12,786 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 5 samples taken in the context of a closed structure check.
